The provision of images and spatial data is becoming more and more demanding as more clients of the Surveyor-General requires .TIF files and spatial data with prescribed periods of updates.
To assist the information divisions of the SG offices to provide efficient service to their clients, a Data Provision Management System has been developed.
This sytem consists of a database of clients with their portfolios (i.e. client information and client profile).
A client profile consists of the type of data (alpha, spatial, image) that is required, area(s) of interest and frequency of update and data formats.
The system will run every night and will extract data for those clients which are scheduled for updates (image and/or spatial and/or alpha data). The extracted data will be exported to directories ready for loading on CD's or stiffies.
A Bulk Extraction software module has also been developed to extract large numbers of images to e.g. local authorities.
DOWNLOAD: (Please note that this software is currently available for beta testing only)
The MS-Excel version of the utility consists of a single file: DPMS.xls
When opening this file, you must choose to enable the macros. You will be presented with an interface with which to compile your profiles (data requirements). The profile information is stored in sheet 1 of the spreadsheet, while Minor and Major region information is stored on sheet 2 and sheet 3 of the spreadsheet. This does mean, however that when new updates become available, the DPMS.xls file need to be downloaded again.
The MS-Access version of the utility consists of 2 files: DPMS.mdb and DPMSData.mdb
The DPMS.mdb contains the interface, which you use to compile your profiles. The DPMSData.mdb contains the Major and Minor Region information used by DPMS.mdb to populate the region lists used when compiling a profile. This means that when new updates of Region data becomes available on the Internet, it is only necessary to download DPMSData.mdb in order to update your information. To use the Access utility you will need MS Access 97 or later installed on your system. If this is the case, just copy the DPMS.mdb and DPMSData.mdb file into any folder and double click on DPMS.mdb. The DPMS.mdb file should be opened, displaying the user interface.
